Tools for Embedding and Assessing Sustainable Development Goals in Engineering Education

This paper presents three tools developed within the framework of project EDINSOST2-SDG, aimed at embedding and assessing Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in Engineering curricula. ESD is promoted through introduction into engineering curricula learning outcomes related to sustainability and, specifically, Goals (SDG). The first tool, “Engineering Sustainability Map”, contains ESD-related that any student should have acquired upon completion their studies. These are described according four competencies: (1) Critical contextualization knowledge, (2) use resources, (3) Participation community processes, (4) Application ethical principles. second “Sustainability Presence Map” a degree, shows percentage presence curriculum each competency. calculation competency based on effective integration specific curriculum. Respective data provided by teachers responsible coordination different subjects collected means questionnaire. third tool presented questionnaire measuring level students perceive they comparison resulting from Map with step allows effectiveness degree be determined, proper assessment will confirm such effectiveness. this work undergone validation process currently being used set degrees EDINSOST2-SDG project. results application these part future research authors.
